The Days of the Week
The days of the week in English are: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. As you can see, we usually start with Sunday (domingo) in English and they must be written with capital.
The names come from Northern mythology. For instance Friday and Thursday mean Frida's or Thor's day. These are Northern gods. Monday and Sunday are the days of the moon and the sun.
You can learn the days of the week with the activities in this website:

A song
The first activity of the blog is based on a song sang by Sam Cooke. It has some basic vocabulary about school. You have to guess the title and to complete the blanks, which are names of subjects . Take into account that some are not taught at school nowadays as such but as part of other subjects (can you think of some parts of Maths?).
In this picture, you can see a slide rule, something that is mentioned in the words of the song but that is not used in schools any more:
Now revise the names of the subjects you have and get ready for the next post!
